Quarterly Briefing
What K-12 Leaders Want From PD: Results From Nationwide Survey

Originally Aired: December 2019

What do districts want from their investments in professional development, and what are their biggest frustrations with the PD that companies offer? We asked administrators those questions in a nationally representative survey, and in this quarterly briefing—available exclusively to EdWeek Market Brief enterprise members—we detail our findings. We’ll go through what district administrators told us about their biggest PD problems, and the challenges they want vendors to help them solve. We’ll also look at what the survey told us about the specific features that K-12 officials say they want from PD.

In addition, Market Brief Associate Editor Michele Molnar will draw from interviews she conducted with district leaders about the PD innovations companies have brought, and what’s missing from the market.

The results are part of a special report, Professional Development Problems & Proposed Solutions: What District Leaders Want, the third in a three-part research project.

This recorded briefing is reserved for EdWeek Market Brief enterprise members only.
